From south to north, Nepal can be divided into five tectonic zones and these are :
1. The Terai Plain
2. The Siwalik
3 Lesser Himalaya
4. Higher Himalaya and
5. Tethys Himalaya
From south to north, the Himalaya shows the following physiographic division:.
• Terai
• Siwalik Range and dun valleys
• Mahabharat Range
• Midlands
• Fore Himalaya
• Great Himalaya
• Inner Himalayan valleys
• Tibetan marginal ranges.
